What is the Milagro artist collective? A group of artists Milagro utilizes across the brand world. This group creates variety within the Milagro brand artwork while allowing us to highlight individual artist strengths for different aspects of the brand. This doesn’t need to cost money. It’s simply a way for Milagro to bring the artists into the brand world in a more solidified way. It allows us to vary the artists we work with. They could come and go. For example, one year we may only use one artist’s mural for advertising, while the others are still represented as part of the brand world. #AgaveExpressionism #MilagroMeansMiracle ---- Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/milagro Twitter: https://twitter.com/jthetequilaguy Instagram: https://instagram.com/milagrotequila/ Pinterest: http://pinterest.com/milagrotequila/ Please enjoy Milagro responsibly. Abraham Cruzvillegas explains how his practice of autoconstrucción evolved from the contradictory and precarious elements of life which give the city a new shape every day. The city and environment in which an artist lives and works naturally influences their ideas, their practice and their form. Artist Cities is a new series co-produced with The Guardian we explore the native or adopted cities of a range of major international artists. We learn how each artist has identified and developed a relationship with the landscape and city they call home and how such connections materialise in their work. The Museo Soumaya was designed as a sculptural building that is unique and contemporary, yet able to house a collection of international paintings sculptures, and decorative objects dating from the fourteenth century to the present. The distinctive façade is made of hexagonal aluminum modules facilitating its preservation and durability and the building's amorphous shape is perceived differently from every angle. Inside the Soumaya encompasses 6,000 square meters of exhibition space divided among five floors, as well as an auditorium, a café, offices, a gift shop, a multipurpose lobby, and storage space. The top floor is the largest space in the museum, with its roof suspended from a cantilever that allows in natural daylight.

Episode #228: From Mexico City, artist Graciela Iturbide discusses her personal and artistic relationship to politics and inequality in Mexico. "We have such wonderful traditions—such wonderful people," says Iturbide, who was close to leftist parties in Mexico. "But, it's very sad that there is so much social injustice." In contrast to her strong political views, she prefers to photograph people “independently of the injustice” to avoid sensationalizing their lives. Iturbide embeds herself within the communities when taking photographs throughout Mexico, attending events such as births and festivals. The artist is shown at the Frida Kahlo Museum in Mexico City where she produced a series of photographs taken in Kahlo’s bathroom [http://www.art21.org/slideshows/graciela-iturbide/artwork-survey-2000s]. For Graciela Iturbide, the camera is just a pretext for knowing the world. Her interest, she says, lies in what her eyes see and what her heart feels—what moves her and touches her. Although she has produced studies of landscapes and culture in India, Italy, and the Unites States, her principal concern has been the exploration and investigation of Mexico—her own cultural environment—through black-and-white photographs of landscapes and their inhabitants, abstract compositions, and self-portraits.
